Built in 1885, the Lumber Exchange was once the tallest building in Minneapolis. The building’s construction portrays grandiosity and the lumber industry’s dominance in Minnesota in the nineteenth century. Years later, the building is now an award-winning wedding venue with touches of modern elegance juxtaposed with historic brick walls and spaces.
Sophie and Patrick held both of their ceremony and reception in grand open space in the center of building. We took portraits and first-look photos on the marble stairs and grand stone archway serving as the entrance to the Lumber Exchange. There’s no shortage of locations for intimate photos.
When the vows were exchanged, wedding guests retreated to another room for cocktail hour—the cocktails were works of art. As the guests enjoyed their treat, the wedding party posed and brought laughs with dips and poses that might make you look twice. There may have been a second proposal (don’t tell Sophie)! We even made time to wander to the Bob Dylan mural.
Ceremony chairs were swapped for reception decor—deep blues and blacks accented by white flowers and pink lighting accented the tables and brick walls.
It started to drizzle at the end of the night, so we brought Sophie and Patrick outside for a slow dance in the rain!
Congratulations, Sophie and Patrick!
