Wedding Photography FAQs

About the Photographer:

  • How long have you been a wedding photographer? I’ve been a wedding photographer since 2012 and have captured over 500 weddings in Minnesota and beyond. My experience ensures I can handle just about any situation and capture your event beautifully.

  • What’s your shooting style? I incorporate a mix of traditional and contemporary portraits, candids, and detail shots to tell the story of your wedding through photos. I’m also more than happy to work off your vision boards to make your dream photography vision a reality.

  • What’s your editing style? I have a true-color editing style. Over the years, I’ve seen editing trends come and go, but timelessness is my goal. Your photos will always feel fresh and classic, no matter how many years have passed.

  • Have you worked with couples who have different skin tones? Yes! Many couples choose me for my true-color editing style and my experience working with varying skin tones. Your photos should reflect who you are individually and as a couple, and I take great care to ensure they do.

  • What’s your experience photographing non-western weddings? I’ve photographed South Asian, Indian, Muslim, Chinese, Ethiopian, and West African weddings and multicultural weddings that include non-western traditions. My focus is always on beautiful photos that are respectful of your culture, your culture’s traditions, and authentic storytelling. respectful and authentic storytelling. If I’m new to your culture’s traditions, I’d be honored to learn and capture them beautifully!

  • Have you shot at my venue before? Yes, it’s very likely! I’ve photographed at hundreds of venues across Minnesota, including Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Central Minnesota, Western Minnesota, the North Shore, and everywhere in between. I also have captured weddings in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri. If your wedding is at a venue new to me, I’ll scope the location and do research in advance, so I arrive on your wedding day fully prepared to capture photos in all the best spots.

  • We’re, um, awkward and don’t know what to do when a camera is pointed at us. Do you help with poses? Yes! I love working with couples to help them feel at ease in front of the camera. I meet each couple at their comfort level and give as much or as little direction as needed to bring out natural and authentic moments.

Booking & Pricing:

  • What is your service area? Minnesota is home, and I travel everywhere in the state for weddings. The North Shore in particular is one of my favorite places to travel for wedding photography in Minnesota. I’m also happy to travel out of state or even internationally for weddings and engagements. Whether you're celebrating with family in another area or planning a destination wedding, I’m excited to join you!
  •

  • What’s your average package price? Most of my couples book packages in the $3,000–$4,000 range. For example, an eight-hour package with a single photographer and an engagement session is $3,400. All packages are customizable packages to fit your needs, starting with a single hour of coverage.
  •

  • Do your packages include engagement sessions? Every photography package that is 3+ hours includes a complementary engagement session! If your package includes one but you don’t feel you need it, we can convert that time into an additional hour of wedding day coverage.

I also offer proposal photography, if you’re planning a Minnesota wedding but not quite official yet!
  •

  • We’re planning to elope, host a very small micro wedding, or are only looking for ceremony and portraits coverage for our day. Is this something you offer? Yes! My coverage starts at a single hour of coverage, and increases from there. Most couples book at least two hours, but for a simple courthouse ceremony, one hour is usually plenty!
  •

  • Can we see a full gallery from a recent wedding? Of course! Please reach out with your information, and I’ll share a few weddings that align with your plans (i.e., weddings at your venue, or that have plans similar to your own). Alternatively, check out my blog for a variety of recent featured weddings!
  •

  • What is your payment schedule, and do you offer payment plans? The deposit to lock in your date is $500. The full wedding payment is due in full 14 days before your wedding; payments can be made in custom installments, or one lump sum, to your preference.
  •

  • How far in advance should we book you? Most couples book 9-14 months in advance, but if your wedding is sooner, don’t hesitate to reach out! If I have availability, I’d love to work with you.
  •

  • What if you're already booked, or are outside of our price point? I have a small team of trusted professional associate leads who also photograph weddings for my business at lower rates than my own. These photographers are extremely experienced and have been trained in my style. If you'd like to see their work, I’m happy to share real weddings of couples who booked associate lead services with my team.
  •

  • We’re interested in learning more, and think we’re ready to book with you! What’s next? If we haven’t had a consultation yet, let’s set one up! We’ll review your vision, create a schedule, and I’ll answer all of your questions. A $500 deposit and signed contract lock us in for your big day!

Planning & Day-Of Details

  • Do you help couples with timelines and shot lists? Absolutely! I’m very hands-on, and project management is an integral part of how I work with couples. I’ll help craft a timeline that ensures your day flows smoothly and that we capture all the moments you envision.
  •

  • What happens if something happens on our day and the schedule runs late? I tell every couple that weddings are events, and all events have hiccups. If something runs late on your day (such as bad weather delaying an outdoor ceremony, someone gives an unexpectedly long speech, etc.), I will stay in open communication with you about day-of plans and photography schedule impact. I will always check in with you before departing for the evening to ensure you have a great wedding photography experience from start to finish.
  •

  • How do you handle family dynamics or sensitive situations? Every family is unique, and I aim to be as discreet and professional as possible. If there’s anything I should be aware of, let me know ahead of time, and I’ll work with you to ensure everyone feels comfortable.
  •

  • What happens if an emergency prevents you from photographing our wedding? In the unlikely event of an emergency, I have a network of trusted professional photographers I can call on. I also work with associate photographers who are trained to capture weddings with the same style and attention to detail.
  •

  • Do you have backup equipment? Yes! I have four camera bodies, a dozen lenses, extra batteries, flashes, memory cards, etc. It is very important to me that I have everything I need to ensure that equipment failure won’t slow me down on your wedding day.

Products & Deliverables

  • How many photos will we receive, and how are they delivered? I average about 100-125 images for every hour booked, though it will vary depending on how many guests you have, if there is travel between locations, and the schedule for your day. For an average eight hour wedding booking, I typically deliver about edited 900 images. Images are delivered via PIN-protected online gallery with high resolution downloads.

  • How long does it take to get our photos? It depends on the time of year for your wedding, as well as the length of your event. My contract states 7-15 weeks. Usually micro weddings are delivered within four weeks, standard weddings are within 8-10 weeks, and longer weddings are 10+ weeks. I will always communicate with you before, during, and after your wedding celebration what to expect!

  • Do you provide previews before delivering the full gallery? Yes! All wedding packages include a highlights preview gallery sent within the first week of your wedding. Most previews are 60+ fully edited, high resolution images that tell a mini story of your wedding celebration.

  • Will I have printing rights to our photos? I provide all clients with a standard print release. This means you’ll be able to print your photos with any print vendor of your choosing. You are also welcome to share the print release with your friends and family, should they need one. Print ordering is enabled on my website, but that is a courtesy, not a requirement.
